Biography
Kizito Sone is a young Cameroon national who joined NEPAC in 2023 and was appointed the deputy Technical Secretariat as a result of his proactive participation in the creation of the network. Kizito is convinced that, the shift towards agroecology can only be realize if organizations come together in one mouth as a social movement to say, agroecology is the solution to address current and upcoming environmental challenges such as climate crisis, loss of biodiversity, soil degradation and environmental pollution as well as societal challenges linked to unfair supply chains, unsustainable livelihoods, poverty, nutrition problems and food insecurity.
Prior to joining the network, he serves as the agroecology program assistant for
SAILD_Cameroon where he has gained extensive skills in project management, advocacy, coordination, lobbying and partnership. Kizito has several years of experience in sustainable agricultural research and has published several articles in top journals including Elsevier. He is a member of the Integrated Soil Fertility Management group (ISFM) and also a Rhizolab member of the University of Buea whose research is focused on the use of indigenous microbes (mychorrhiza, Rhizobium e.t.c) for sustainable agriculture. He holds a Master’s degree in agricultural and environmental economics from Kangwon National University, South Korea and a Bachelor’s of Science in agriculture from the University of Buea, Cameroon.
