At the heart of NEPAC’s success is a decentralized yet highly coordinated structure designed for transparency and impact.
1. The General Assembly
2. The Bureau
3. The Technical Secretariat
4. Working Groups & Ad Hoc Committees
1. The General Assembly
The Supreme Decision-Making Body
The GA is composed of all NEPAC members who have committed to our Charter. It serves as our ultimate forum for reflection, exchange, and experience sharing.
Role: Defines main orientations, reviews the mission/vision, and validates the strategic action plan and budget.
Frequency: Meets twice a year on an ordinary basis, with extraordinary sessions held as needed.
Composition: Includes all approved member organizations. While specialized Councillors participate in discussions, final decision-making power rests with the core members.
2. The Bureau
Leadership & Oversight The Bureau acts as the bridge between our strategic vision and its execution, ensuring all network procedures are strictly respected.
Role: Chairs the General Assembly and oversees the implementation of the validated strategic action plan.
Composition: A President and a Vice-President, elected by a simple majority.
Tenure: Members serve a non-renewable 2-year term to ensure fresh leadership and diverse perspectives.
3. The Technical Secretariat
The Operational Engine Appointed by the General Assembly for a renewable 4-year term, the TS manages the day-to-day life of the network.
Role: Responsible for representation, coordinating meetings, internal/external communication, and archiving vital documents. The TS provides quarterly progress reports to the Bureau.
Composition: Led by a Permanent Secretary and a Deputy Secretary, mandated by a designated member organization.
4. Working Groups & Ad Hoc Committees
Specialized Action To tackle the complex challenges of agroecology, we leverage the specific expertise of our members through focused collaboration.
Working Groups: Open to all members, these groups focus on specific themes (e.g., cocoa, soil health, or gender) to facilitate deep knowledge exchange.
Ad Hoc Committees: Flexible groups established as needed to address time-sensitive tasks or specific regional projects.
